Meet the owner & founder of Bluebel Counseling
Isabel Gruenhagen, MS, LPC
She/Her
Originally an engineer, I came to the field of counseling with a vision of being the therapist my family needed during my childhood. My personal journeys through monogamy, polyamory, parenthood, discovering my own neurodivergence, and navigating multiple professional worlds further fueled that calling. I provide counseling from an LGBTQ+ inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming (neurosparkly, if you will) perspective, and seek to ground my work in cultural humility.
Today, my counseling specializes in communication and connection. My lifetime situationship with pattern-recognition comes in handy here; I can’t not see certain communication habits that might benefit from some fine-tuning. This, paired with an eye toward understanding and translating, particularly between varied neurotypes, enables me to cut to the heart of situations during counseling sessions, and foster clearer conversations between lovers, friends, family members, and even colleagues.
Whether I’m providing individual counseling or relationship counseling, I seek to meet all parties with equity and fairness. Within every human is a desire for validation, and often this is what lies at the core of distress. Here, we shift the conversation from “who did what” to “who needs what”. I draw upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and more to help you meet your goals.
Areas of training include:
Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy (including ADHD, Autism, PDA, and more)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Gottman Method Level 1
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Polyvagal, Somatic, & Sensate Strategies

Bluebel Counseling was devised to support three pillars: Counseling, Advocacy, and Outreach. In addition to the clinical focus shared here, I am a member of the Ohio Counseling Association's (OCA) Insurance Accountability Committee, and I am Ohio CSWMFT Board approved continuing education provider.
